There is something charmingly old fashioned in this roman~ which has short serifs and a rather condensed overall design. The central stems of the capital M do not reach the baseline~ and the dots of the I and j are square. The design team of Charles Bigelow and Kris Holmes developed the Lucida font family~ originally a face for laser printers in office use. The designers were obviously conscious of their link with the past and have produced a roman that will withstand many applications. 1985 Lucida was one of the first original typefaces designed for use on computer screens and low resolution laser printers. Lucida is a large family consisting of serif and sans serif styles~ as well as mathematical symbols. Lucida is excellent for use on low resolution output devices and for facsimile transmissions.
