About ITC Bookman Demi Font
In designing ITC Bookman Ed Benguiat's goal was to design a typeface that had a clear resemblance to previous Bookman typefaces yet was different and more versatile. Originally created as a complement to the Antique Old Style typeface from the Miller & Richardson foundry Bookman features short ascenders and heavy serifs. ITC Bookman maintains these traits and adds a large x-height and moderate contrast in stroke weight to provide for high legibility. Benguiat also was the first to develop a full family of four weights - light medium demi and bold - each with a corresponding italic design. And unlike the original Bookman the italics for ITC Bookman are true cursive forms as opposed to obliqued romans.
