Cleartype technology standard in IE 7
If you downloaded the latest version of Internet Explorer, you may have noticed that your fonts now look different. In fact, the default setting for font display is now ‘cleartype’. Fonts look smoother and not as crisp, as this is supposed to bring more clarity to your text on the screen and make the fonts that you typed look more like printed text. The technology is far from perfect, however, you can try and see which setting works best for you. To change your cleartype setting in IE, go to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced and choose your preferred setting. Cleartype is not a new technology, what’s new is that it’s now the default setting in Microsoft’s browser, which is still in the lead as far as browsers are concerned. As for me, call me old fashioned, but I prefer things the way they were, cleartype looks fuzzy and imperfect. What is Cleartype?
